IMO, if you want to have discus you have to have 55G min with group of 5 at least and possible 1 stunted one. Discus can grow up to 6-7 inches average w/ good wc, feed and space. Can you imagine 5 x 6-7 inches in 55G tank? if you don't mind the size and look then any tank is fine.

now let me ask one more question. I have a tank with a 9" motoro stingray and 17" arowana would a trio of adult discus fit in to this tank or is that a no no? Keep in mind I am still researching discus and only asking questions to find out opinions from those who know better don't flame me too hard lol.

I saw tank like that combination including angels, it depends on tank size and how often you feed them. i believe you have provide some space for each one other and don't let them starve. Good luck and can't wait to see pics.
