IN YOUR HEAD
i have a large pair of discus. since i moved them to my 20gal the smaller one has been rubbing on the bigger one, cutting it off as they swim and been in an almost constant flared and twitching state toward the larger discus. they are a pair and have layed before for the previous owner. the smaller one has been doing alot of pecking on the plants and "quivering", they even lip locked once. i have not owned discus long so i don't know this behavior any help or info on it would be greatly appreciated. i may even try to get a vid of the pair doing this. it wont be for a day or two i have a busy schedual between working and prep for my new goonch cat.

thanks, scott

i managed a quick vid i am loading it now dont mind the dirty glass i have to run to work so i didn't have time to clean before the vid. their fins got alittle roughed up in the transfer. the larger one has started to twitch back at the smaller one.

thanks, so my hunch is right it is spawning? these are also in normal tap not ro water.

Yep, pre-spawing behavior. The female will usually pick at a smooth object to "prep" it for her eggs. They will spawn in tap water, but the eggs will not hatch just for FYI. But spawing means that they are in good health and good water quality........

thanks for the info i was thinking about changing to ro water for reproduction purposes. i am not sure on the strain i will have to ask him again. i hope they will make mini versions of themselves since they look so nice. then i could get some availible for other mfk folks.

they laid eggs! has anyone had them hatch in regular water? also how long till i know if they are good or bad.
