I'll certainly be taking a long break from discus keeping. I'm going to leave the tank planted and give everything a good clean up whilst I decide what to add to the tank

Hope things go better next time...

Time will tell but I'm not holding out much hope for the plantsLoulou;2002036; said:You must be kidding! Oscars with plants!?That's gonna be fun!

Nice tank design Lou, It may or may not work from a planting point of view but oscars tend to follow the gg thing of large personality, good or bad temperament so if they like the plants they will stay if not then I'm sure they will rip the outLoulou;2003371; said:It worked fine for me with valisnerias, crinums and anubias... hmm...that was a while ago... these were my beginnings in taking pictures as well...
You are of course correct with the tank size and limitations. I've done a lot of reading and generally I should just get away with two baring in mind the tank will still be over filtered. If I need a new tank later on then so be it, then should be fine for a year or so.Tequila;2004264; said:Hate to inform you of this but your tank Yanbbrox is too small for keeping more than two Oscars tops. Maybe too small for two. But at least if you do Oscars you can through that RO system in the closet. Because Oscars should be able to handle that Moon Monkey water straight out of the ground. For me an ideal Oscar tank would be 300~500Gal. Good Luck with it though.

and a very large oscar tank would be cool.
