Right now in the fish room I have a 400 (66x48x30T) aquarium filled with 8 geophagus and 3 rays. The rays are about 8 inches and the geophagus are from 3-8 inches..
My wife has a 125 with 7 discus and a handful of angles and some other small community fish.

Were wanting to get rid of the 125 but she doesnt want to sell her discus, I already know its probably pushing the tankmate compatibility of discus but would I be able to put her discus in my 400 with the geos and rays? I've seen it done before but not very often.
Food wouldn't be a problem because the discus are on flake and my geophagus wont touch anything but pellets and shrimp so the discus wouldn't have competition eating.

Opinions would be great thanks

Try it out....I know the geos won't be a problem. You might have a problem when those rays get bigger though.

I have this exact combo in my 300 - geos, angels, discus and 2 rays plus a couple severum and there hasn't been any issues. Having space to spread out helps, although I have only 1 discus, he seems to mind his own business...

That's good to hear you already have the combo. My main concern is some or the discus are about 3 inches... my biggest geophagus is easily 8 inches I just worry about him being aggressive to the smaller discus. Im thinking about throwing her angles in first for a few days to see how they do. If all goes well I would think the discus should be ol too?

The only issue I see might be there is a lot of bottom feeding going on and Discus will stress easly if they graze at their leasure. Angels are much more assertive and may have no issule pushing their way in to eat, Discus wouln't do it.

Ill put it to you this way I keep geos with my discus no problems what so ever where I see you having a problem is the rays if they arnt 100% full all the time then you could have a problem rays are predators and where your rays are about 8 inches and the discus go from 3 inches and up that's were the problem is....if it fits under their disk they will kill and most likely just chew and eat the head and leave the rest of the fish if you didn't have the ray in a 400 gallon tank you should be fine otherwise your taking a chance and as the rays get larger and out grow the fish most likely you will start seeing what I described

It should be ok but I had a leo that had a liking for Discus every couple of months she would have one, so just be aware of the risk she was about 12" the discus were about 6-7"
