Discus tankmates?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
20 gallons is fine for now, but I hope you plan on getting a much larger tank soon!

Yup, have already ordered a 300g tank for them coming in next week. So I was wondering what type of fishes they can be kept with

Corydoras would do.
please get a bigger tank...

Corys would even recycle discus poop. Try maybe 4 or 5 panda, albino, maybe some Brochis splendens which are great.

Give them a place to hide tho and have a nice fine substrate.

good luk

Horrors! Corys aren't poop eaters! That's a myth about all bottom fish that needed put to rest 100 yrs ago. There's no fish that "recycle poop". They may stir it up so it gets sucked into the filter intake easier since they're mainly at the bottom (being bottom fish). But they do NOT eat poop. Not to mention Corys like cool temps-in the low 70's and Discus like it warmer than that.
As far as Discus tankmates-if you're putting them into a 300 gal tank then they need more Discus. Discus feel more comfortable with other Discus around.

get...8 more discus for a 300g. Maybe a ray or a aro too.

But discus are a shoaling fish. Angels do well with discus too.

Yeah, more discus for a 300gal., but you're going to need more than 8, or they will feel lost in that big tank, won't eat, and hide in the corner if they are youngsters. You could get away with only 8 if the discus were all adults. I don't like angels mixed with discus, or much of anything else. In my experience, discus do best with other discus.
