Discus types out there

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have Angels in with my Discus, I've noticed that the Angels can be more aggressive towards my Discus when i don't feed them heavily. More food less problems, but all fish and tanks are different. I would say get the Discus setup and happy and then introduce Angels. Experiment, if things look to be going south make sure your willing to move the angels to another location. As far as what types i recommend, I'm in love with White-Face Red Melon and any version of the pigeon bloods.

thanks for the info.
Reason I was asking, was we have a 75 gal tall tank that already has angels in it. I have another 40 gal and a 30 gal that are already open, but wanted to do other things also. But I really like the idea of the discus and would loveto have some. So didnt know if I could put discus in with my angels or use one of my other est tanks for the discus.
Ive gotten away from the community tank thing, reg pets tore fish and want to set my tanks up with more exciting and different things...

Having Discus is awesome theirs no other fish like them, Definitely worth the experience if your willing to do the work. I good thing to have in your filter if you can find it is a media call Peat Granules. They're a PH buffer type thing, they keep the PH lower and stable. I've had great success with it and have my Discus acclimated within an hour and eating within ten minutes of being out of the bag. IMO it's a must have item for your Discus tank.
