Discus with Fire Eel

I have the tank all up and running now discus and all, everything is working fine. The Fire eel already eats from my hand, I have him on bloodworms as the staple of his diet . . . pretty greedy eater (he'll suck up the entire cube if I let him), but doesn't bother any of the other fish. The loaches and the pleco will occasionally co-inhabit his little cave with him and he doesn't seem to mind. He's about 4-5 inches long and I got for about 30 bucks. One recurring problem I've heard with these eels is them kamikazing out of the tank only to be found a smelly dried out mess the next morning . . .anyone else heard of this?

Yeah, make sure your tank is almost perfectly covered- I've had a 6'' tiretrack commit suicide on me before ..... I got mine at 9'' for 20 bucks, which was a steal, and mine does fine w/ CLs. He also eats bloodworms.

I'm glad everyone seems to be doing well. What do you mean the entire cube if you let him?

sweet, ya i have had a tire track eel jump out on me, but i didnt find him nect day more like a week lol, just thoght he was hiding all that time.

A lot of bloodworms come packaged in individual cubes that melt in the water

Sorry, it was late and sometimes my brain doesnt function too well. If you want him to grow, (and be less likely to go after little fish) you might consider feeding him a bit more. When I've had eels that size I fed about twice that much, just for one eel. A big part of why I looked into other foods was the amount of worms I was going through, and the cost.
