ive also seen a video of someone feeding small piranhas a 6" zebra cichlid, however the koi one was the first that struck me due to the users wrongful and unkind words.

What about all the videos of LIVE mice being fed to piranhas?
I can't imagine its a nice feeling having you stomache ripped out then being totally ripped to pieces..

Before this gets closed, let me add this.

Unless these fish are only sold with permits validating ownership, then you will always have people trying to see something get ripped apart.
It's the nature of the reputation they have as fish.Although they are some of the most skittish fish in Amazonian existence.
If an Amphilophus was properly equipped with the same teeth and even ran in the same numbers, the P's would be really low on the aggro scale.
Ever see a P mess with you at the glass like an RD would?

They are just novelty feeds. I.e interesting to watch eating.

So as above stated, unless you treat P's like guns, and record all of the owners information, and maybe even a mandatory owners course, then keep expecting this immature low self-esteem crap.
Because last time I checked the Rio's and their tributaries, there are NO Koi in CA or SA!

i know. but even at smaller sizes they can be fed meat to supplement their needs and aggression, but it doesnt have to be live feeders. so far the only way they permit them is to colder wintered states.

right. ill be feeding mine raw shrimp when i get a tank of them. until i can feed them pellets or something, cuz raw shrimp is kinda pricey, but they prolly get big fast on them. and they can be an occasional treat.

You can buy anything you want in bulk.

If you get your shrimp in bulk, like say from a bargain club, then it should be a little better on the wallet.

i have to say, watching a piranha bite off a feeders tail is interesting. any fish actually, but no matter how interesting it is i still kinda feel bad for the one being eaten..

but you have to look at it like this... somewhere in the world, right now, at this very moment a fish is being eaten. you dont feel sorry for those, so why feel sorry for this one?

i think, if this guy wants to feed his fish koi and get a kick out of it, let him. dont go on a rampage talking about how cruel it is. you really have no right saying its wrong to feed a piranha a fish, when thats what they do in the wild.

you think the more a fish costs the more 'feelings' it's going to have. hate to break it to you but thats not how it works.
