So its been awhile since ive posted any updates on my tank, theres a reason behind it. As some of you know i had a blue tang that contracted ick. I went the hypo salinity method. Was able to lower the salinity and keep it there for a month or so. It looked like i was able to get rid of the ick. I slowly began to raise the salinity back to normal, when one morning i awoke to find almost every fish now was extremely salted with ick. All this effort for nothing, so i wasnt giving up so fast. I decided to treat with copper this time around, but i had all kinds of inverts in the tank that wouldnt be able to handle it. I had a spare 30 G that i decided to set up as a hospital tank. Well i was able to transfer all fish and treat with copper but it was too late. I think i actually just stressed the fish out even more with the transfer and the copper. One by one i lost every fish i had, what a sick feeling. I'd say i had over 300-400 worth of fish, all gone. With all that said, ive kept my protein skimmer, emperor 400 hob, live rock and all the snails and crabs running in the tank for the past 2 months. Im guessing its safe to say that the tank is ick free being that long without fish. So my questions are: with no fish being in the tank that long, has it affected my bb? I checked the parameters today and everything cleared out to 0 except for nitrates which read less than 5. Ive occasionally added shrimp pellets for some of the snails and crabs to snack on, but thats it as far as anything goin in the tank. Will i see some sort of cycle when i add something to the tank? Im looking just add one decent size fish that can live in a 55 for life by itself instead of a community like i had started in the first place. Is there any predatory fish that i would be able to house comfortably?

i tried one of those ick meds cant remember which one, but it didnt help. I dont think theres a med that completely kills ick out there

I had the same thing happen to me, I lost $300 worth of fish in 24 hours... The fastest kill off of Ich I've ever seen. It left my Snowflake Moray and White Ribbon alone though. I never treated for Ich no nothing and with my Eel's still refusing to eat after 2 months of me having them I gave up on fish completely and left everything to die. It had been my second time losing over $300 of fish and hit my breaking point. We've all had one moment like this sometime or another. But once my White Ribbon started eating then my Snowflake I readded fish to the system. I let the system sit for 2 1/2 months with no water changes no nothing just left the inverts and Eels. I've been going on 3 months after I started re-adding fish and all of my fish are healthier than anything in the tank before!

Before people get their panties in a wad after saying I left the fish for dead there are many more contributing factors than led to this sad "plan" by me. Money problems, no places to give them away. The only thing I could do was leave them in there.

Its a bad feeling isnt it Viper...Well hopefully the tank will bounce back. Anyone have any suggestions on a single predatory fish that would work in a 55? Ive had eels and dont really wont another, theyve always hid too much for me. Is there any kind of trigger that would work for me?

Kick ich does not contain copper I recently had to use it and I have no signs of ich at all

glad it worked for you, think the only thing it did for me was stain my cyclone blue.

kick ich is clear how did it stain your cyclone blue we probably are talking about two different products the one you speak of i think is tinted treatments this is the product i am talking about http://www.seaumarine.com/images/specials/Kick%20Ich.jpg Like you said it may not work for you because your infection might be on the heavy side now but i know of someone who had a blue hippo with white all over of his body very serious case of ich and passed it on to the rest of the tank used kick ich with success (he is the on who recommended this to me) anyhow good luck to you i hope you cure your tank
