Distilled water vs RO

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Springwater in a bottle can be void of anytypes of trace metals/elements as can R/O water so I figure why spend the extra money to get it out then spend more extra money to put it right back in - the simple solution for me was a water change tank. Helps to prep the water thru use of carbon to remove the nasties yet doesn't eliminate the benificials also can be heated to perfect matching temps and salinity can be matched much easier, i fill the W/C right after weekly W/C's giving me a week to match the above and a week for the carbon to eliminate the nasties.

And yes both fish and reefs do very much depend on those trace elements for health.

Back on topic - R/O is contolable by you with your own R/O system - using someone elses or bottled water - you don't know what exactly your getting and it can vary from purchases.

tap water can be ok but needs to be tested regularly. i use well water but the levels will sometimes change so i meed to check regularly. RO is the best if you can afford it. I plan on geting a 100gpd unit with a 100-200 tank to store it in... but thats just me
