Hi everyone, So I am new to this site and was wondering what a good dither fish would be for my pair of green terrors in a 120? I really need to figure this whole picture taking thing out...

Silver dollars. I put 6 with my Parachromis loisellei pair and it was the only thing they didn't kill. I try big turquoise rainbows and they got shredded in two days. For whatever reason they don't see the silver dollars as food or something!? Also they're quick, hardy, and can take a pounding.

giant danios or silver dollars, be warned though, almost all will go after fry

I agree 100%

Convicts are waaaay more fun then Silver Sollars to use as dithers. Just make sure you get all males or else you will have a lot of fry.

Ok Thanks for the input. How many male convicts would you use? Will the eat the fry or will the Terrors do a good job of keeping them safe?

Hmm now that you mention it didn't really think about that.. I would say 3 but the fry eating thing may be a problem since convicts are pretty tough.

I wouldnt go with convicts Ive seen convicts band together and turn the tables on fish that were bigger than them and in fact end up beating the holy crap out of the very fish they were intended to be dithers for

Go with something neutral. Convicts can be extremely formidable. We underestimate them because of their size, but I've seen plenty of male convicts back down larger cichlids.

If you want the breeding to be successful and raise fry then go with silver dollars giant danios.
