I would say Giant Danios. If you really wanted convicts I'd go with a female or two since they are smaller.

Either silver dollars or giant danios, my sd's got big enough that they scared my gt after awhile though (old tank I had). Danios stay towards the top of the tank more and away from eggs/fry. Both will commit suicide without a lid though. My red hook mets spook easy at night and jump up and hit the lid too.
