Yeah they are a shoaling fish. A mininum of three SD's but I would go with six if you can get away with it. I say silver dollars because when they are larger its pretty dang hard for and oscar to get their massive mouths around a decent sized silver dollar. It also helps that silver dollars move like greased lightning well until they move like lightning and hit the glass and stun themselves haha

i have an 11-12" oscar in a 125 with 9 silver dollars and it works out fine. The oscar when purchased was smaller than the dollars, so there has never been aggression issues. the dollars are about 4" now and look nice.
