clown loaches are cool but they would eventually outgrow the 45 without a doubt.. plus they're like 10 bucks each and need to be kept in groups aren't they?
Those look perfect.. would a LFS typically have those or would I have to get them shipped in? Also how big do they get and how much do you think it'd cost to get a school of about 5 of them? Thanks in advance
So far my barbs haven't nipped at anything in the tank. I was told as long as they're in a large enough school/shoal, they won't bother anything outside of themselves. Might not be 100% accurate, but so far its holding true for me. Granted, I don't have anything passive like an ABK in my tank either.
I think convicts CAN get to 5", but from what I understand, 3-4" is more normal. Mine are all under 3" or under right now. The largest (only male) MIGHT be right at 3", but I don't think he's that big yet.
The severum is another fish that I want, but I don't think it would mix well with my jack dempsey...too passive:\ Get one dude!! You can have all the other fish I want
haha i might.. good call on convicts being that small - there's already an opaline gourami in there and i had a gold but the gold picked on the opaline too much so i took him back, severum is looking like a pretty good option bout now... or if i can find a good LFS that would have congo tetras... those are 2 top choices at the moment
Keep it to a smaller schooling fish. Do not listen to these bad suggestions about getting cichlids as dithers. Your tank is too small, plus the aggression of the cichlid may backfire on you.

so a single severum would probably overdo it? fair enough time to do some research on congo tetras, and if i can't find a place to get them reasonably priced here well my tank shall stay the way it is now
