What could I get for dithers that would work with my two tiny Green Severums, and not get eaten by my 5" BGK?

I've never kept any other cichlids besides a Red Devil I had about 6 years ago, and some Angelfish, so Severums are a bit new to me. I've noticed the bigger of the two chasing the smaller one, sometimes for a few minutes straight. Neither of them ever get hurt, but they will grow and be able to actually hurt each other in the future. I don't really want anything to take away from the Sevs colors, which can go from a light green with some faded stripes, to dark blue/green with very visible stripes.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Congo Tetras, Buenos Aires Tetras, Angels, Giant Danios, or Tiger Barbs:D

By definition it sound like you are actually looking for a target fish. I would go with a fish of similar body size to a severum maybe a black skirt tetra, silver dollar, etc. IME severums don't seem to care much about any other fish in the tank and generally show agression towards there own kind. You may find that the dither/target fish have little if no effect. Possible that you add more similar size severums but you have to rehome later on down the road. This would also increase your chance of getting a pair or two pairs.

How many Angels could I fit in their comfortably for life with them?

I have a full sized Angel in my 29 gallon, but he's staying put. I was going to add another Angel or two to that tank, but if I can fit a few in the 40, that would be awesome. They'd look great with my sword plants.:D

I think i'm just going to buy three of them, if they get too crowded i'll move one to my 29 gallon... Problem solved. Thanks Benzjamin. :D

DITHERS FOR A BREEDER TANK?

He means that the tank is a 40gal breeder, not trying to breed the sevs (at least thats how it came across to me on the other thread)

Yeah, definately not a "breeder tank", but the tank is a 40 gallon breeder. :D

The dimensions are why it's called a 40G breeder: 36Lx18Dx16T
