Yeah, definately not a "breeder tank", but the tank is a 40 gallon breeder. :D

The dimensions are why it's called a 40G breeder: 36Lx18Dx16T

Oh i'm good LOL

How is the pair coming along?

giant danios, tiger barbs, yellowbelly barbs. i use silver dollars abd red fin tinfoil barbs for my big boys.

They really are doing great. Their initial stress (knock on wood) is gone, and there coloration and stripes are starting to show real nice. They still haven't figured out my BGK. They just sort of ''watch him".

I'll get some pictures up later today if I see a good opportunity.

That sounds funny. Like how you put it. 'watch him' lol.

I can't wait for pics. I'm toying with a sev or two. But i'm also toying with a lot of other things that will knock a sev for a 6.

Ok... I need to stop having nothing to do.
Anyway, here are some tank shots  :

Here are the two with their 'eccentric' tankmate:

IME severums don't seem to care much about any other fish in the tank and generally show agression towards there own kind.

My adult sevs regularly pick fights with my big Johanna pikes. No damage ever, just a game of "let's see whose mouth is bigger" followed by a bit of mouth wrestling. It's quite amusing to watch.

As for dithers for a 40 gal...silver dollars are going to outgrow that tank very quickly. Personally, I'd go with black skirts or giant danios.

I have three full grown Silver Dollars in a 29 gallon right now doing fine. Some people like their fish to have tons of room to swim. I like mine to have 'ample' room to swim. I like the 'overstocked' look, as long as the fish remain healthy. Maybe it's just me, but I like seeing a tank filled out. ;)

That being said, I will NOT be buying anymore SDs. They aren't exactly a bold fish.

:)
