Hello MFK. Happy Holidays to all. Just wondering what would make some great dithers for a Amphilophus tank. Labiatus,Citrinellus,Amarillo,Chancho, and Red Isletas. Any ideas? I also dont like silver dollars or any fish that looks like that.

lamp eye tetras

Dont these guys tend to be nippy?

try some convicts, just make sure that they're all the same sex or you might end up with more dithers than you want

might try the convicts

your keeping a tank of aggressive cichlids and are worried about the tetras being nippy?

i would say convicts easy to come by and will hold their own. i use all males in my tank

Various mbuna species are really great for that as well. Something like yellow labs, various zebras etc. The big fish find them impossible to catch (so long as you have some hiding places) and they can also take some stick, as they are used to a bit of aggression.
