So I have a huge Midas with an anger issue, and I like him but would like some movement in the tank and something to gather his attention other than all my movements. So the question I pose is what do you think would be a good fish to throw in as a dither, I'm not expecting them all to last forever so nothing too expensive nor dangerous if eaten (IE loaches/plecos etc.). I was thinking giant danios but was hoping you guys had a few other ideas to through in the pot. Unfortunately any large catfish are out of the picture, he beat up a 10in rhino pleco pretty bad in a manner of 20min and he had to be saved and returned to the store. There is currently a feeder still alive, a live bearer of some sort from when i weened him onto pellets, so was thinking of possibly platies/swordtails/mollies which would almost make it look like a biotope. Any input would be appreciated. And tank info, 120g tall with 2 jbj reaction4 canisters rated to 150 forget model number. Thanks

I really don't think you can beat Giant Danio. They are just so fast. They add awesome movement to the tank as well.

That is what I figured ecoli, but thought I might try throwing some small guys as he doesn't seemed interested in stuff that small. I have no misconceptions that he won't eat them though. I may just leave him be and alone, get myself another tank set up. It would be nice for him to have something to interact with though, it appears he gets very bored staring at his reflection often and sitting in weird positions.

One by one he will pick off the giant danios. If you put in 6 they will be gone in less than a month. I suggest another tank setup. I have tried almost everything with my devil and nothing has survived. Last time I tried danios he caught all 6 in a week. They were dithers and not meant to be feeders, yet I am having trouble getting him to eat pellets since putting the danios in.

He will kill all eventually trust me

You should be able to get some large tinfoil barbs for around 10$. They won't last long, but at least your Midas will have to compete for food. At least until he eats the barbs lol.

WetPet is your best route. But if you absolutely have to have something else..... Grab a group of Mbuna.
It won't be a biotope tank. But, some Mbuna can be bought for cheap & they'll last.

can't see any dithers working, the last midas i had didn't even bother to chase dithers during the day but one by one during the night they dissapeared.
