Dithers for my Dovii..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have giant danios with my GT, but he ignores them. He chased the first one when I added it to the tank for the first time, but thats it. They are very active, but they stay at the top almost exclusively.

I would go with Tinfoil Barbs if the Danios don't work out. They will grow quickly and should be fine even with your Dovii's as they grow as well. They are also very hardy and can take some abuse from larger cichlids. Good luck.

Just wanted to give an update. I purchased 5 of the biggest Giant Danios I could find, about 3 - 3.5" long or so. Well she ignored them when the lights were on, come morning they were all ripped in two and laying on the bottom of the tank. She could have at least ate them

Tinfoil barbs would be the best choice imo. They grow larger are more durable than the others you mentioned and dont like to eat plants.

lol i just read the update what i expected, the tinfoil barbs are gonna be your best bet I'd buy them at least half the size of your dovii's and if not bigger...I'd try 4, even though they get really big I'm betting you've already got a bigger tank for those dovii's or you are going to one day but for now they'd be fine I think.

I'm still finding scales in my gravel 1 year after my dovii destroyed 3 12" tinfoil barbs...

Yea I'm bringing my 150 home from work this coming weekend so it's just a matter of cycling it.

Well the Giant Danios were kind of a test.. I wanted to test with a $2 fish as opposed to a $6 fish. Yes Tinfoil Barbs go for $6 each down here.. no clue why.

down here lol, your up from me and cheaper.
