Dithers with GT, JD, and clown loaches?

In my opinion, a school of Tinfoils and/or Balas will outgrow a 120G. I regards to Serpaes, I would be worried that they would end up being lunch.

I have a school of Arulius Barbs (Puntius arulius) that supposdly grow to 4 or 5" (they are only 2" now). To say that they are active would be an understatement (these fish are hyperactive). They school nicely and have awesome colors; the pix I have found online don't do them justice...mine have a deep burgandy tail and light yellow head/torso. I believe adult males grow long streamers off of their dorsal fin. I really like these little guys. I'm currently keeping them with a JD, GT, Oscar, Wide Bar Silver Dollars, Clown Loaches and some Yellowtail Rasboras.

Another option which grows a little larger than the Arulius barb is their cousin, the Filament Barb (Puntius filamentosus). Roseline Sharks (Puntius denisonii) are another attractive option that should work nicely.

My LFS has some fish that are very simular to the Filament Barb (Puntius filamentosus), but have a black spot over their eye as well. Extremely beautiful fish, but he has them labeled as Madagascar Barb and wants $35 a piece for them....

I'd do some filament barbs. They're awesome. And if they start getting too big, you'll be able to sell them for a decent amount of money. My LFS had some 5-6"ers for sale for $25 a piece.

Roselines may work too, but you need to have atleast 6-7 of them to school and have them not stress out. And they are super expensive unless you find a place that has them on sale cheap.

I don't know about you all but rose lines at my LFS are $20 a piece for the "2, kind of a rip off if you ask me. Especially if you are needing 5-6 of them...

I hope roseline prices go down. They seem like the perfect dithers. They're really fast, and they get about 6".

I'd have a school of them in my tank right now if I could afford them. $140 for a school of dithers is just too rich for my blood.

should consider yourself lucky, we pay 60 for them at that size not even high quality ones they are really dull. once they hit 5 inch + 150$+

My biggest worry with tetras as dithers is even though they are big if the gts a real aggro I cant see a group of tetras having any affect against them nor being able to last an attack, I even lose SDs to this they take one bite and go. I find the tin foils are big and strong and cant actually push the cichlids away but I think yours tanks way to small for a group of full grown tinfoils.

Might all come down to the temperament of your gt. Anyways best of luck.
