dithers

im doing the same thing today since i dont have any small dithers. i only have 3 orinos in a 60 G but only one of them is eating a lot and growing while the other 2 are barely eating and well....not really growing at all. The one big orino of the group also punks the other 2 sometimes and its really frustrating cuz one of the smaller ones is still weak from the ich break out and im not ready to lose any. Not to mention they have the whole 60 gallon to themselves.

I want silver dollars or severums but i cant decide. I kind of want severums more since ive never had any before and this is my chance to get some but i dont know if theyll really motivate my orinos to eat more. Theyre not as fast silver dollars thats for sures. whatd you think? should i still get the severums or would silver dollars be a better problem solving fish for me?

Silver dollars are a better bet for both of you. SD's are from SA as well and are always moving and non aggressive. Balas and Tinfoils are not amazon fish so that would rule them out for me. Severums are obviously cichlids and sometimes all cichlids can be mean. You are trying to get the pbass to feel more comfortable and come out and not lose any then SD's are the best bet. :)

That's what i thought. However, i am pretty confident that orinos are much more aggressive than severums. Either way, i dont think the severums would do much to excite my orinos during feeding time so SD's it is.

SD's are good. I wouldn't do balas or tinfoils because I don't like either of them.. and they get enormous.

I've had good luck with arowanas since they stay active and near the top nearly all the time.

haha I actually changed my mind at the last minute and got a baby senegal bichir insteadd. even tho its mouth is too small it tried to nip at my smallest orino. i dont know anything about bichirs so i might just throw it in a breeder net cuz ive seen people keep em in plastic cups with holes in them.

aros are great dithers for bass. ive had a silver with a breeding pair of monos a few years ago and it was one of the most beautiful fishes ive ever had. i highly recommend them to anyone who hasnt had one before.

bichirs generally aren't great dithers if you're trying to help the pbass come out and be more sociable. And I guess aro's aren't great dithers to help spread aggression. I've never seen anything between my pbass or aros.

Other Pbass of the same size. Giant dinos, gold fish, pretty much any fish that stays on the bottom and really active. Less hideing spots will also make the bass come out more. Floating plants and a piece of drift wood on the bottom worked for me.

Im going Endli, Juruense, Leichardti now... and thinking of adding a Giant RTG

Maybes... True Parrot, Tat, Pike Odoe, Large Vittatus (these are just ideas im battling with :D)
