My first 125 DIY Stand turned out to be a disaster. So I made a promise to myself and my girlfriend that when I moved the only way I would set-up the 125 was if it looked really really nice. I decided to keep the old stand as a frame and wrap the outside in ply-wood. The Canopy took a little more time to build.....and after two coats of pickling stain and two coats of poly it turned out better then i imagined! I will post better pictures later.

So........$150.00 later (not including the initial $100 for the frame, but you can do it cheaper....i over engineered it!!)

Yeah... I have a glass top on top of the tank. That way the fish don't splash the lights or the wooden hood. Also, if you look at the picture of the hood on the ground you can see that I put a 42dB fan in the back to vent the heat from the lights. 42dB is a little louder than i would prefer but once the pumps are running you can barely hear it. If I did it again I would put (2)12dB fans in the back

That looks awesome! What keeps the hood up when it is in the open position?

it looks like the hinges on the top are the type that will hold the top up but that seems like a lot of weight for those hinges
