its not that i dint notice the difference.i asked the guy for 2x4 and then he started toking about 2x2 and then 2x2 got registered in my mind.its only after i came home and unloaded everything i realized i had messed up.
i actually glued and screwed 4" screws to all the joints. all my 2x2 timber pieces are just kept like that. wasted at the moment. i used a 18mm thick marine plywood for the top and the bottom. i want to make gates with that. some pics would help.i am a total noob at this.rnocera;2962448; said:Sorry I didn't see this yesterday or I'd have commented then-
2x2s wouldn't have been enough. 2x2s glued & screwed together *may* have been enough, but personally I wouldn't risk it. Especially with 180 gallons. That's an expensive tank to break, let alone all the water damage that would cause.
For doors, there are a ton of options. You could make doors out of anything you want. What did you face the rest of your stand with? If it's 1/4" plywood or anything thicker/sturdier, you could make the doors by simply taking a rectangle of each of those & putting crown molding around the edge. Pop a hinge on the outside and a clasp on the inside, and you're done.
pics coming soon but its still needs doors and paintinglunk71;2962495; said:cant wait to see the pics![]()
