DIY 300 Gallon Stand and Canopy

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
FINALLY!

After week upon week of having other things to do, crappy weather, and whatever other excuse I could come up with, I've finished the canopy. I decided today was the day, and I wasn't about to stop until it was all put together and sitting on top of the tank. Here it is!

I don't know why I waited so long to finish this thing now that it's done and I can admire it. It makes a huge difference in the look of not just the tank, but the whole living room.

That's it!

Are those 4X6's?????? High 5 dude, that's a monster stand!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They're 4x4's except in the corners for the overflows. Those are 2x8's. It's still a monster stand nonetheless!

Keep the pics coming! Your an artist with wood!

Thanks! It's just a hobby (no formal training) but it's what I'm good at and passionate about.

but need a silver aro

I actually used to have one back in the day in my 75. I took him back to the fish store after a couple of short months. He grew from 3" to 9" in the course of about two months. I knew I wouldn't be able to house him permanently, and the store was more than happy to take him back and sell him for three times as much as I paid for him!

I've considered a silver arowana again, but they get too big for even this tank. It's only 24" wide, and I'd rather have a 36"W tank before getting another silver arowana. They're beautiful fish, though. They're probably my most favorite freshwater fish.

Nice job. Looks great!

You guys are lucky. You got to see it all, start-to-finish, in one night! The guys on the CamaroZ28 forum had to follow along for a year. It's frustrating following a thread for that long, because you're so anxious to see the final result!

Very impressive. How much do you think you spent on lumber? How many hour to build?

good looking set up and nice build man
