Diy 4500 watt heater!!

someone correct me if im wrong but i dont think that type of element is supposed to be exposed to air. I was under the assumption that those types have to be submerged so the beaker idea, although a good one, may not work.

Unless I am misunderstanding you, but i think you were reffering to sealing the beaker like a lightbulb, or conventional aquarium heater

For the moment, it works fine. The constant flow of water keeps the temp low enough as not to melt the pvc. As far as sealing it goes, I def will tinker around with various ideas once the warm weather appears. The styro lid keeps the element at the right level, so as to keep the water out of the wires. I prob will go back to the drawing board so I can incorporate a thermostat into the mix. Thanks for all the replies!!

that's so cool made me think about doing something like that but i don't have talent with electricity and playing with water made the idea less appealing but good on you.

Might have missed it.
But why didn`t you use the screw in?
With bulkhead fitting all the volts/amps would have a hard time coming in contact with water.
I made a tank heater for a small hydraulc pumping unit using a water heater element.
I used a 220v element, but ran it 110v.
At 220v it got way hot every time it cycled on.
