Some might remember I was trying to convince the wife & kids that we dont need a TV.. & build the stand combo below....

Well that still has not been the favorite use of space idea yet.. so ... I have redesigned the setup with the TV in the center & loose the bow front for now.. See the second photo... the yellow box behind the TV is an existing mirror. I removed the 3 smaller mirrors from each side & now have 42 years of bad luck ahead....

In the following photos, you can see how I de-skinned an old stand
.
Pic 1 shows the original stand..

I removed the panels - pics 2 & 3

pic 4 - Removed the top molding & moved the front one back as a a top rail

pic 5 - Removed the bottom molding & moved the front one back as a a bottom rail

pick 6 - install new front & side panels.. This is pre finished honey oak boards, these were reclaimed from a church remodel .. they were accordion doors.

Pic 7 almost done, top & side molding & doors still to be done ...

Then build another one just like it for the other side ....

after that matching covers for both ....

I have not choosen between a recessed panel doors or flush doors..

either way they will be made from the reclaimed church door wood.

left being recessed or right flush .....

I decided to go with the recessed doors.. here are the panels.. now for the frames ...

Oh & the piece on top will be the top molding once dry..

NICE STAND, why dont u put the tv behind the bowfront lol, or better yet gut a tv and then water proof it and fill with water and fish lol.

Just figured out I won't have enough of the church wood to do the bow front stand too, nor the tops.. :( argh... I guess I will figure out something for the canapies, when I get to the point of the bow front I will re-skin the front..

I have the frames cut for the doors, but I am done for the day.. More tomorrow... perhaps even the finished product ....

Thanks for the kudos,

Stand one is almost complete, all thats left is to mount the doors & the the molding for the sides, doors are complete & molding is cut, but I have company heading in tomorrow & the wife wants help picking up the house, painting the bedrooms, laying a new floor & things like that.. :nilly:

Here is a pic with one door just set in place, I heed to buy hinges, but silly me I just got back from home depot, got the additional wood to frame stand #2, & forgot to get hinges.. now they are closed so that purchase has to wait.

Once everything is done I will use a real camera, & get some better photos, these are all phone pics...
