DIY 6000 gallon tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have a 1000 gallon tank and the acrylic is .5" thick

Skylar69........ no offense intended, but you are aware of the cost of cast acrylic, yes? Fabricating a tank the size you want not only requires skills beyond most DIY persons, but probably exceeds most private peoples' "hobby" money. Just a thought..... In my humble opinion. I shoot for more realistic plan, like an acrylic prefab tank around 300g.

that is the best put logical eplpanation that basicly says that this will cost you around $10000 in materials and contractors and basicly paying perple to desing and impliment a safe way to hold back thousands of gallons. if you want a tank setup this way i would use steel ibeams on either side of the acrylic, and have the i-beam hold the acrylic, you can get smaller ones like those used in new houses for about $200-$300 for a 10' length. then seal and silicone it in. did you check out the 22000gallon ray tank?, its the same design as the one you would like to use only bigger and more beefy, and to hold back that amount of water he used 2.5" thick you would be fine with 1.5" but i would use 2" You should look around and cansider your option, a 4X8(standard sheet) for cellcast acrylic around me costs about $1000-1500 then for wood and sealent your looking at another 500-1000... and so one...

If you have the money and a lucritive job then good but if your a 12yearold that has high hopes dont let me stop you, I will try to help as best as i can...
