If this was the first post I'd agree, but we all dreamt is technicolor when we were kids. Someone had to show us firm footing. Why not the members who have the experience on here?
I think this is a case of non-information, non-realism, and adds nothing to the abundant amount of USEFUL information found on this amazing forum.
I think we all gave the benefit of doubt only to find that this thread, along with others from the same poster, lead nowhere.

who else is he going to talk to this about though? Maybe its his future plans and he wants advice before hand? Im sure his friends arent into keeping monsterfish.
 
I say go shorter and spread it out more. I'm planning a tank that's 8' x 14' x 3 1/2', and it will include a viewing window in the front and maybe the side as well. If you truely want to make this go for it.
 
I think this thread is about a PLAN to make a 8000G tank. What happened in this thread is that all the members got excited and all hyped up because it looks like a big undertaking and like all members of this forum, we love huge tanks.

This first time I knew of this thread i knew that it will not materialize in the near future. An example is the thread about the 24 foot tank in an office space that took about two years (maybe more) before the forum was updated will completed photos. Everyone was so hyped up for more photos and asking for updates here and there. At least the tank was completed and finished photos was shown. This case might be different though. Its an individual which is still under the mercy of mom and dad.

In my opinion, this tank will not materialize. Its a hype maker. He already mentioned that he will not push through with the tank at the moment but got will get a FREE pond instead. The question is when will he make the tank he asked opinions about???

Nobody knows.

When someone wants something and got the means to obtain that something, one usually gets it done as fast as possible without compromising safety and quality of the work done. Hell, I even have dreams of just getting a bigger tank and can't stop talking about it to my brothers and sister. But eventually, you feel an itch in you and a sense of urgency to get a hold of you have been aiming for.

In this case, its a drawing, a plan, that's it.

Maybe this thread can re-appear when he already have the means to actually do this undertaking.
