Hello, I have used Monsterfishkeepers site for a few years now and I want to become a little more active. Well because of this dreded economy I seem have a little more unplanned time on my hands. My sump needs cleaning and I wanted to DIY a new Rotating Spay Bar over my Bio-Ball Chamber and remove the drip plate. I had a store bought one a long time ago. I saw such a system (a video) in the pond forum some time ago but I can't seem to find it again. Does anyone have a clue how to fabricate a Rotating Spay Bar ?

Welcome, I moved your thread into the DIY section so it will get the attention that it deserves. I'm also very interested in what you're asking about.

You could try using a sprinkler head upside down. That would give you the rotating/spraying effect you are looking for.

Well I did see someone use a sprinkler in that way. I don't think I could get the volume I would require. I think what is needed is a large rotating PVC union. I can't seem to find such a item on the internet, so I would have to fabricate this joint somehow. I also so a diagram in the diy section that seemed promising.

just an Idea but rather than a spray bar get a couple small fans that don't work (unless you can get the plastic blades without the fan) set them up so they would spin in opposite directions one above the other this would disperse the water evenly over the entire area I believe. you don't need the whole fan just the blades and the bearings. this would eliminatew the possibility of plugging as theres nothing to plug. if you don't get what I'm thinking I can try to draw something up to make it easier.

RIO makes them 3/4ID with 2 outlets.. i picked one up a few weeks ago for $2 (store closing normal price was $16).. i have no idea what i did with it at the moment but if i manage to find it and remember this thread ill post pics..
