diy airstone literally a stone

so today i had a bright idea why dont i make a diy airstone with an actual stone/rock. i just went picked it up from my near by levee. i read up a little bit about outside rocks being put in aquariums and i just did the vinegar test and no bubbles or sizzling so what else should i do to make it safe for my tank like what can i wash it off with to kill unwanted bacteria?

my plan to make it into an airstone is to make one central hole in it then use a tiny bit too make multiple tiny holes that all trace back to that central hole.

Boil it for a couple minutes water that hot will kill anything pretty fast. Iv done this lots your going I blow anything up unless you leave it for an extended period of time maybe

Should I drill the holes first then boil or boil then drill

Drill holes first. The reason the rock will explode is because of the pressure building up on the inside. Drilling holes first will help relive some of the pressure.
