DIY algae scrubber What do use To make the acrylic non-transparent

OK so I’m making a algae scrubber I purchased a acrylic Fish Tank very cheap and I am going to use that the back of the tank is already black but what would I use to make the other three sides black I was thinking of using plastic dip or another thought I had was window tinting film? Has anybody had any experience with these two products or know of something better

You can use those I usually find black paint works especially if it's going to permanently be an algae scrubber.

I didn’t realize how cheap I could get a 1/8 inch black acrylic sheets. For about $50 I can just cover it and black acrylic sheets. Definitely more money than the other two options but it’s also the safest and will last the longest it’s crazy how cheap it is to build one compared to buy one. You could get a 20 gallon acrylic Fish Tank brand new for about 170 $50 to black it out 40 for lights and about 20 for miscellaneous plumbing. So just call it $300 , and that’s buying everything brand new. To buy 140 W 24 inch algae scrubber It’s like $500- $600 or more

If you want the tank to permantly stay black I would wipe it down with acetone before painting it with a plastic spray paint. The acetone will etch the acrylic and give the paint a good bite to hold onto.
