markstrimaran markstrimaran noticed you were on this thread. Did you ever try it ?
Yes I have 4 of them.
A bubble up, a water fall, a drip thru, and a HOB moss wall, and the fluidized golf ball scrubber.
My are free to operate as they also heat the tanks.
Broad mix of LEDs.
My least favorite is the bubble up, the smooth glass grows more algae than the screen. Requires frequently glass cleaning. Submersible growing lights, are the way to go.

I have done 5 waterchanges a month, at 55 gallons to 155 gallon tank. Nitrates are 15ppm to 30ppm. "My tap water is 10ppm"
Feeding 35 mbuna, daily all they can eat. My wife feeds. I simply increase filtration capacity.
I use a sump, with filter floss.

Note. Before I used a scrubber, I had a Hydra colony, and lots of planaria. They all went away with the scrubber.

I have lots of Daphnia and higher copods. Living in the system now.

Note on RED led
The 660nm is on the left, a 640 is on the right, watt for watt, the 660 will out grow the other.
I also run my lights 24x7. Once growing solid green.

AWESOME. Can you recommend a good a good submersible light ?

Searched amazon and found some strips that say water proof but in the comments some of them say not to submerge for long periods of time.

Im going to build the bubble up. What dont you like about ?

I have the mesh screen and also some flats acrylic i could rough up
So you believe the acrylic woukd grow faster/more ?

Seen12x18 for 180g and up from big companies. So maybe large or make 2-3 in series or parallel.

Just a thought.
