I dont use nething else. why would you?

silicone is cheap (make sure you get the one marked specifically for aquariums, available a little cheaper at homedepot than lfs)

key = moderation

it werks good, so dun take much

especially if you want it to be semi-permanent
 
Excellent idea. It just might work for the outside of my pond. I have been trying to fix the outside for over a year. Thank you, PS Why put in the tank, it would work hung on the outside. Call me stupid, but why take up valuable room in the tank.
 
Why not run heavy dowels through, and seal the whole thing over, they would hold your three pieces together also. Another idea would a heavy frame around the whole perimeter (and seal), in both cases a possibility could be the stakes masons use to frame molds. They're also called great stakes
 
Finally finish with the carving..
and i decided to not to care too much, heck with what my cement contains..
in case my fish died of poisoning, i would then coat it with epoxy resin..
and, i also decided to silicon it to the tank, just want to keep thing simple..

so its time to coat my foam, here is the work so far..
i'm waiting for it to dry now after coated it of 2 layers..

well,
i use black coloured grout mix with gray straight cement and get this..

and i will probably get the whole coating thing done by today..

may not be the best, but i do the whole thing without any help from other people, must be proud of myself haha..

i will continue this tommorow, its getting dark now.. ><"
i am currently covering it with wet towel in the empty aquarium.. so the towel wont dry so easily..

before i procceed any futher, i have a question..

when i touch the cement now, it is like touching a charcoal..
it gives off those very fine dusty black particle on my hand..
is that normal?
mine is a mixed of grout and cement..

sorry, if i am not really good at describing it.
 
so this is the background after final touch...
the background itself looks better than it is in the picture..
it is still wet though, I never really get a chance to see it completely dry...
they suppose to be moist before i finish curing it..

You can try making the stones different colors so it looks like a lot of different stones stacked on top of each other.
