DIY aquarium background(in progress)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Once in the tank with plants and substrate it will look more realistic, not that it doesnt now. It may also grow a coat of algae which will help it blend in more naturaly. Either way, i wouldnt do anything else to it. I think it looks great. I have made a few of these my self, as well as bought store made ones, and they never look that great until there in the tank with sand, plants, wood, ect...

I just notice that the appearance just look better over some time..
so here is what do for curing..
cover it with wet towel, and put air stone to a container of water in order to increase the humidity, i wonder if it really increase hehehe..
6 days has passed since i started curing.

*sigh* i need to carve again...
my bro bought a wrong styrofoam, i have to carve off thoes pinky stuff..
after i did that, i heat it with hairdryer so it is more solid..

after that, i glue the main foam to the 2nd foam with silicone sealant,
basically, i just cover the whole area, i used up the bottle of silicone sealant.. *omg*

and i weight them down..

and also here is the tank.. getting ready for the background pretty soon..

I think you made the classic mistake: If one rock looks good a bunch of rocks will look better. In nature you'll never see a pile of rocks like that, you could have saved a lot of work and just made the whole thing look like 4-5 bigger rocks rather than lots of little rocks.

so i glued it in, and let it cure for 48 hours and fill it with water..
there's a coconut hut in there also hehehe...

tap water pH = unknown
pH in the tank = unknown
i will test it soon..
