south east asia
so i decided to try the same thing that scatocephalus did.
i basically did the same thing, some dry peat and then boil for about 30 minutes.
i added several batches over the course of two days.
the fish definitely looked much better after adding the blackwater.
the azul used to have very faded stripes, but now theyre always dark.
however,i noticed that it doesnt show as much blue as before.
the kelberi shows more gold now.
overall, all the fish look much better.
and it seems that theres much more aggression now than before.
seems blackwater also changes their behavior.
as you can see,the effect seems to go away after a while.
its not as dark as it used to be,but the water is still tea colored and clear.
maybe my filtration is making it disappear?
i already removed all the carbon in the filter.
let me know what you think...

great looking bass man

Looking good man, I think I was reading that the color may be faint but the nutrients are still in the tank for awhile. Im wondering if it had a bad effect on the fish due to changing things. Im gonna re-read the post and see if I can find anymore info.

yeah, but i really like the murky yellowish color that it had at first.
the fish really stood out then!
as far as i can tell,it didnt harm he fish at all.
spangles really pop out, stripes or bars are much darker, even appetite and aggression has increased.

Good deal, I may have to try it one day. Im pretty new to the game and Im taking pride in clear water. If I dump it in and turn it brown I may have a stroke lol! Once I get some time under my belt I may be ready to experiment.

oh...its totally clear!
water has a brownish tint to it,but it is still clear as ever.

Great job, thanks for the info.

API makes a product called Amazon Extract that made my Cichla go nuts. They looked really really good but I quit using it since I have to use about a gallon per week to maintain the effects of it.
