...neither one had any fittings that were long enough to fit through 3/4" plywood...

What you are looking for is called a threaded nipple, and two female threaded fittings. You will have to get the threaded nipple at a plumbing supply house. I already tried at HD & Lowes.

I usually look in the toilet and sink parts section.

You must be a Navy man too. :headbang2 Bugs me too, but I stuck my head in the microwave to kill some brain cells. I am ok now.

Do you have to be Navy to call a bulkhead a bulkhead. I have 17 years in the Coast Guard and we call them bulkheads too. (ps. 3 more to retirement)

I will check out the local Pool store this afternoon.

1. In the O-ring section.
2. Pool supply store.
3. In a tube of silicone.

silicone works for me... I actually drilled the holes a tad small and threaded the male end into the plastic (i'm drilling rubbermade tubs) and they didn't need silicone.

The diff here with the DIY way vs asking for a "bulkhead fitting" though is cost. The same custom made pvc fitting called a "bulkhead fitting" usually cost about $5 to $15 each. This cost about $1.30 or so depending on the gasket.

And for bulkheads, in architecture, they actually call the boxed out section of a ceiling that contains an hvac duct which crosses a doorway or even part of a room a bulkhead.

Welcome Noob. I don't think anyone is participating in this conversation any more. At least I don't think anyone has been patiently waiting a year and a half (threads are dated in the upper left hand corner). :D

Wow. Heres to another year and a half. People will comment old threads. Get over it.
