I have all if the wood, but am a major n00b. I plan on making a 63"x1"x33" rectangle out of pine 1x4's for my 61"x32" steel stand. I will cut the 1x4's at 45 degrees, and will I screw one screw at the top, and one at the bottom, or just one i'n the middle? Should I glue it with wood glue, and then pre-drill and then screw?

I don't know what you mean one at the up, bottom and middle . . . I would prefer to over do the stand, just to give me more peace of mind knowing its 99.9% secure, instead of not putting in that extra piece of support.

Wood glue is always a good thing. Counter sink everything too.

I have just finished a tank build for a 180gal tank, thread is on here with pictures if it helps

I meant, should i screw a screw in the middle, or screw a screw at the top and bottom of my 45 degree, 1x4" pine..

What do you mean by counter sink?

I was thinking that I would glue it, and let it sit for a day or too, then pre-drill it, and then drill it? Or wood gluing it be enough?

I wouldn't do 45 degree joints. Sit the wood on top of the other wood and screw down through into it. Check the tank stand threads on here to see what i mean (or the link i sent you, the first picture will show you)

Counter sinking a screw is when the screws you put into the wood are screwed in so far that the screw head is sunk into the wood and not sticking out (or level with the surface) if you are still not sure type it into google.

As for gluing the wood - i would pre drill the wood, glue it and screw it straight away before the glue starts to set. I would not glue the wood and leave it to set then attempt to screw it later, it would be asking for trouble going about things this way.

Hope this helps

I would use 2x4's. If you already have the wood (1x4's) you could join it together and use it. It might be overkill but depending how big the tank is, i would rather be on the overkill side instead of making weak stand.

What size is the tank you are putting on it?

It's a 110, but it's not supporting the tank at all, it's just going around the steel stand as cabinetry to make doors..
