Its not really the bucket that is the issue. Its finding a good quality cover for the bucket.

second metal clips are chep and small on the magnum 350 and they cannot hold the pressure of my pond pump, a screw on 5 gallon can.

I just picked up on something you were testing WRONG.

You NEVER EVER have a pump force water INTO the canister filter. This is why the metal clips did not hold because they do not need to handle more than head pressure.

Every single canister filter setup has the pump pulling water through the canister.

First you talked about decreasing pressure using a pump while its running, then you talk about pressurizing the canister with the pump.....
