I used the standard styro-foam and great stuff to hold it all together, obviously not completed just seeing if any one has any ideas or comments.

this will be put in my 180gal thats on order mostly for jewels, any comments or questions welcomed and sorry bout pics, from camera phone

still deciding thinking either the hydrolock cement like most people use or in another thread someone used grout. not sure which would be best though.

could also use epoxy resin and pour substrate over it while its still wet
although you might be better off with cement/grout for the "rocky/very rough" look

ya would also be stronger that way the tank will theoretically hold lifalli jewels and paratilapia polleni along with a few dithers maybe silver dollars. still cant decide on white or black sand but would prolly be sprinkling that over the concrete or grout

might be hard to cover concrete with white sand so u dont see the gray anymore

true could also dye the concrete do you think grout would be strong enough, and will it mess with the ph?

i have never used grout but other threads say that it does leach a lot (it is not like it has to be that strong i mean the fish wont like ram against it and the foam it self is somewhat pretty though)
is ur tank already set up? cuse it would be bad for the fish with ph variations
i would let it leach in a rubbermaid or something for a couple weeks and change that water often until ph is normal

no the tank isnt even here yet it has been ordered should be here soon still have a lot to do so would like to get this taken care of before hand. it is a 180gal 6x2x2 with a fx5 filtering it, thats the only things i know for sure. all still on order but this epoxy resin where can you get it and wont the foam just float unless weighted down?
