So I've decided to build a compact fluorescent light fixture. I will be using the GE 6500K 26W compact twist fluorescent bulbs. I probably will build a small canopy to house the bulbs and fittings. The sockets are going to be the weather proof type. The biggest problem I have is figuring out what to use for a reflector that won't be too expensive.

LOL... Ghetto = Tinfoil LOL... They ahve that mirror reflector steel.. I didn't think it weas to spendy ./. But someone else did this.. and they were salt water Hobbiest.. so not too spendy to them = way too much for me to DIY :)

When I made my canopy I just rolled a couple coats of white latex paint on the whole underside (basicly just to protect the wood). Then I shot it with chrome spraypaint. I had the paint sitting around the house already so it didn't cost me anything extra. That was over a year ago and it's still fine. Not sure how the ghettoness of this stacks up to the tinfoil, but it works for me. :)

look up something called mylar. I got mine off ebay and lined the inside of my DIY canopy. It reflects 99% of all the light. very efficient.

When I read the title I totally thought I was going to see a DIY Carbon Fiber hood! :duh:
