No no by all means if you would like make more! I like where your coming from, I didn't even think of making the top rimless. And I agree with the overflow, I didnt mean to have it flop quite that much it just sort of did that due to last day of making it I had to rush to get it done or it would of been thrown out.

Sweet idea dude, definitely worth putting in the (now doubled) effort to get a final product. I like the last couple suggestions that were made as well...especially the one that designs it to look like a cave.

You could keep the bottom flat and build the whole thing domed and get glass (or acrylic) custom cut to fit the resulting semi-circle opening. Now I know it seems like you just built an enclosed structure and won't be able to do anything aquarium wise with it...so here's what you do. On the backside build out a regular pot shaped section with an open flow into the main 'cave' area. I'll try and ascii draw it...
ignore the dots! BB likes to parse text:irked: And this is a side view in case that isn't apparent.

Then you can put your overflows and filters and whatever else you want in that back portion. You would want to build the whole thing so that you can get your hand into the display portion, but you would be pretty limited as to how much maintenance your display requires (i.e. siphoning substrate might be a huge pain, so consider not using any, after all....its a cave, rock floor;))

I'll stop rambling now but I think that would be pretty sweet. The other idea about using your existing design but taking out the center & making it rimless...thats pure win as well. I think it would make the existing design considerably classier.

Good luck with it dude, keep up the creativity & working with your hands!

Well while sitting in health class I decided to draw up my DIY aquarium 2.0 :D Tell me what you think, the pump will pump into the bottom of filter container.

Did a calculation and it will hold just under 18 gallons. I might make some natural built in caves as well as the rock wall and ext.

Some built in caves would definitely be cool. They would look really natural depending on what color you glaze it with.

UPDATE: Do to me now being able to work on my project due to drivers ed (could but mom wont let me) My friend Kedryn is going to start it for me. Hes just going to make the basic shape out for me and I will try and talk my mom into letting me stay after one night to make the rock features.
