Thought I would post up a pic of a Corian fish tank that my boss built last year. I believe he said it's around 60 gallons.

Corian is usually used to make residential and commercial countertops. This is the same material that I used to make my diy sumps.

The tank and stand is all built with Corian, except for the clear acrylic.

Front is just glass, right?

What is the cost comparison?

What about weight?

It looks like a great material, could be the future of fish tanks if it is good enough (price and weight wise)

I am sure that it's not too horrible to move. The material is basically 1/2" acrylic.

Price wise....it's probably pretty expensive, but I am sure there are a lot of places that throw pretty big pieces away every day. It will last longer than a plywood tank cause it's nonporous.

isn't corian pretty expensive if you don't have a hook-up?

It can be, but there are also a lot of knock off brands that are pretty cheap and basically the same material.

That's awesome man. It doesn't look too bad. Maybe they should branch out. With 1/2" material they could easily build a 150.

I have thought about doing something larger by doubling up the material to 1" and reinforcing the corners. :D
