DIY DriftWood?? Help! Decorating tank ideas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I use the slate floor tiles that are 12"x12". Drill holes where my drift wood attaches. Move sand in my tank, place tiles on the bottom and cover said tile with sand(my substrate) and presto, I now have non floating drift wood,

I got a big piece from a landscape place a few years back, quite large and cheep too.

I could just use the bleach for washing clothes right?
What are the proper steps to successfully treat the driftwoods.

-bleach soak, boil, salt, etc?

if you use bleach, be sure to give it a good long soak in some extremly concintrated prime for a day or two. with water changes in between.

1 part bleach to 20 parts water is good enough, soak it for a day or two, then let it air dry for a week. the bleach will evaporate out of the wood in the open air, but just to be sure give it a bit longer. if you can still smell traces of bleach on the wood, let it sit longer.
