How are you going to keep the pools from over filling or draining to fast? I just don't see it working as is.
thats why we are saying an overflow thats hooked to both... it is easy to achieve look at my link i did it on one pond
Pearls of Paradise show tanks have a threaded fitting in the bottom.

that would work great i didnt think about that i use that threaded fitting when i do water changes sometimes.. it drains the water pretty quick but doesnt work well to get the sludge off of the bottom
With the output (overflow) near the waters surface, it will only drain as much water as you pump into it. But the overflow I am talking about is pretty simple, once the water reaches a certain level it overflows into the sump or next pool (kind of like the hole at the top of your sink).
Yep, as long as there is some way for the ponds to transfer water between the tow to equalize the levels it will work fine.
