thats why overflows are built with a anti siphon. Myself would never use one either just for that fact. And because I like my intake mid/bottom of the tank.

Did you see my post on how I plumbed mine? I have 2 slotted intakes, one at 5~6" above sub-strait and one at the surface for exactly the same reason you like mid/low level and surface intakes.

ya I saw that, but are your inlets both connected into 1? so therefore if the top one breaks suction its done.

Not really, as th two horizontal Pipes are "Connected" via the center 1" PVC

The Lower Horizontal PVC is Connected by 1" PVC Thru the tank back (I have a drilled tank) just above sub-strait.

This type of trickle filter with the rubbermaid drawers was my first DIY project and I'm not too happy with it b/c it is so damn loud! Make sure you make a diffuser bar or drill holes into an end cap to quiet things down.

Wow those DIY filters seems really cool.. Still new to all these fish stuff and would have never guessed these would be used in such way!

Drawer Set up sits in large Bin which holds the pump and is a catchment for water volume which would drain thru the system in the event of power outage.

Tank Normal water surface level Higher than Highest point on over flow plumbing; entry into top of Drawer filter set up

Isn't one of the "Safety Features" (drilling a Syphon hole to break syphon) if power shuts down?

Anyway Thanks for the comment, many times my explanations are not to clear.. trying to work on that lol

Take care

Your imagination is the limit. Im sure there are ways out there that would make peoples mouths drop that havent been figured out yet.

 Subscribed. I will be doing the same real soon.

Hmm I think I might go the easy route and just stack a drawer on top of my tank and put holes on the bottom so the water trickles back down into the tank. If i get a 3 slot drawer, what would you guys suggest I put in there for media?
