Wouldn't you lose alot of the nutrients by cooking all the seafood and fruit and veg? I mean I understand that by cooking the beefheart it fouls the water less, but what is the purpose of cooking the rest of it? I would assume fish would prefer raw?

Edit: I'm referring to the link chesterthehero posted.

Good read! I might try this when I get bigger fish.

Kzimmerman has the right idea its a mix and match.
the reason i dont use insects is because if i did i would have to breed them for myself and i really dont have that much time. between my fish my GF and WOW oh yeah and work i hardly have any time even left for myself.

Snyder810 well it depends on the amount of gelatine you use the more you use the more it will hold together the less the less it will. not all gelatine are the same so this is where you will need to experiment for yourself depending on the brand you get.
my advice is before you try making it get a box of gelatine, blen a carrot and then mix that and see how it sets up that way you will see how the gelatine will react and will set up.
there are times i do vary how solid i let the food get depending on who i am feeding.
if is for fighters i dont want it too stiff plus they only eat a little any way.
if its for oscars or large predators well i would class it just below a gummy bear.

Longimanus

well i dont see cooking it really cause that much of a loss in nutrients, i do prefer raw but raw does shorten the shelf life. and if you think about it cook foods are easier to digest, which means your body can actually get to more nutrients.

hmmm i think i should leave this up to food nutritionist ....

hmmm, gonna have to try this.........have you tried this yourself and tasted it? :D

what if you wanted hard food that floated ? would you do everything the same just not add the gelatine and pour it into a cake pan and bake it in the oven for 30 minutes ? would this work or no ?

i do have a baked food but i have not had time to do it like how i did the other one and i have not honestly experimented with that recipe like this one.

well if its too cold my fish just mouth it and leave it some do eat it frozen and it does not seem to bother them cause they just keep coming back for more.
the smarter ones wait for it to thaw.

jojo_nature i have not tried any of those but if you want i say go for it i would only be a little worried about the shelflife of the food. even though its frozen it does spoil just slower then if not frozen. normaly the food last me about 3 months in the freezer but if well bagged and put away i could see it even going for 5 months.
