i got the glass from a local glass shop, handed them all the cuts and dimensions, and they asked me to pay 1100, lol. It is just standard float glass, 1/2" thick

Though really cool :drool:it's just not cost effective. I got my 265 complete and sealed for 1300. Given time and the cost of silicone they end up being the same. The glass guys around me would be far more expensive too :( . To top it all off if my current tank fails I can blame the mfg and just have to clean up the mess. If I built it my wife would me sleep in the garage forever.

actually, everyone i talked to, it was going to cost me 1800+ to get built, pluss shipping, mines 36 tall, not 25, and i needed it to only be 24 front to back. The price also includes 6 hole drilled

Just watch craigslist and find someone who has given up the hobby and started smoking crack :).

Seriously though I pick up big tanks on craigslist all the time and re-sell them. Two weeks ago I found a guy giving away a 46 gallon bowfront with a cascade canister and he also gave me a 75 gallon with a XP3 canister, two 20 longs that had never had water in them and a scratched up 55 acrylic with a stand. And about 15 fish.

Heres another tank deal from craigslist. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=245926

Usually the tanks are dirty and need work so they are always a great DIY project.
