Be aware that being next to a window, your tank is going to be more prone to algae blooms. Just keep the shades closed and you will be fine :) Nice tank and great idea :)

Honestly I'd just leave the blinds open, you dont get much direct sunlight through that window and it darkens the room to close them. Even when we had the big tank out back all summer there were never any problems with algae....

My thoughts the same I couldnt see spending that kind of money on rocks I got mine at Lowes the have 50 lbs bags of the perfect size pea gravel (river bottom) . it is really dirty when you get it but if sifted right its great !! and it did not cloud my water at all I was relly pleased !! and the best thing is that its only 2.75 for a 50 lbs bag!!!!
If rou want the river bottem look its so the way to go!!!!

its called a break.....

Then I built a sifter with 1/4 inch screen, sifted through the rocks, and tossed out the larger stuff.

Since I know you dont have anything better to do....

Why dont you take this thing down to the river and see how much work it is to get a decent amount of smaller gravel?

Did this when setting up my other 55 instead of speading 70.00 on a gravel and sand mixture. I spent $4 at my local lowes on pea gravel no sand this time. Sorry I would post some pics but my parents camera missing the usb connector. Wait till christmas day and you will see a whole lot of new pics with MY new camera.

Wait... i didnt know pea gravel was that color.. hmm

Beautiful tank man.:) Pea gravel comes in any color at most lfs. The natural rocks are just rolled in a drum with epoxy paint at the manufacturer.
