DIY iguana background, take 2

It appears you are attaching this to a glass background. If you have the oppertunity or end up re doing it again I would replace the glass with ply. You can anchor the foam much better and use a combination of dow foam and great stuff to stiffen up the design .I ended up applying around 5 coats of the floorleveler to my trerrerium and it held up and was very rigid wit 2 blue trees for 2 years.I also sealed it after the concrete was dry. It now holds a green ig that is around 24" and has not failed as of yet. Looks good so far and good luck.Seth.

It is being anchored to a mirror background but I am using a type of liquid nails that says it is specifically designed for mirrors. It just took a while to dry and there were a few pieces that did not have enough on it and I had to redo, otherwise, the foam is holding fantastically.

I am going to end up adding more coats eventually but I am trying to get it at least looking nice and with an iguana in it by thursday since my dad is coming down to see my apartment for the first time ever. I dont want this thing still taking up my whole living room with a mess of materials scattered around it. I would much rather have it up with a thin coat until he leaves and I can reapply some more concrete and maybe even an epoxy/sand mixture to make it look like sandstone more than concrete...

Anyways, I am just focusing on the thursday goal right now...

here it is 99% completed!

I am just waiting for it to finish drying and then I will brush off the excess peat moss. Julio will go back in it sometime tomorrow.

Edit: it is not letting me post pics yet, I will get them up as soon as possible though.

let's try it this way, see if the pics will work now...

okay, the pictures are a little distorted but if you click on them they will pop up as the right size. and this gives you guys a good idea of what the finished product will look like. I am going to eventually do some shading on it and am actually going to do some rock work on the outside of the glass to make it look like it is coming through the glass and to cover up the edges that show underneath the cement to show a bright pink foam (pretty ugly).

Looks good. Some greenery would go well in there!

I thought about it but it is not possible to put anything green in with an iguana unless you want it to be eaten. I think I might eventually go with some spanish moss though....

Some fake plants and vines would look nice

I know that it would look nice but trust me, even if it was plastic, Julio would try and eat it (and probably succeed too). He is a garbage disposal. Like I mentioned earlier, the whole reason I had to redo his background was because he was eating the great stuff insulation foam....
