I saw some cfl warm white 5000k bulbs,120v, about 15w.Is this a good color spectrum?

I'd probably go for cool white or daylight over warm white in most cases. Don't need much red spectrum in aquariums unless you have a specific plant or coral that requires it. Daylight CFLs provide plenty of red, provide a lot of the blue that plants need to veg, and look a lot more natural.

Here's a link to a good DIY LED build. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1587273

I've built LED lights for Hydroponics Gardening, but haven't built any for my tanks yet. Will probably break down and do it pretty soon. Starting to get into planted tanks a little more.

Sorry for the delay i've had alot of work on the past couple of weeks, but heres there lights set up in the tank. im going to get it filled some time this week.

Have you looked in the auto parts store. they always have cool LED strips. you can twist a few together and maybe use a 12v to house adapter. then clean t up with some heat shrink tubing.

are you planning on growing plants or do you just need enough light to see your fish? The Cree LEDs you need to grow plants successfully are still rather expensive plus you need to know how to wire them up plus the cost of the rivers.

You can use LED spotlights to light up your tank sufficiently to grow Vallis and see your fish. Looks pretty cool
